I’ve been taking a short break from writing and binging on my favorite books/movies before I gear up for another book release.
The book has college campuses and forests, family secrets and the cutest interstate romance ever. What more can you want?
Now, into the world of Thrones!
We’ve got three months or less left before season 8, and that’s a very anxious time to be throneless.
So, here are some predictions about what is to come in the new and exciting season.
Disclaimer – these are just my personal guesswork. This blog is just me jotting down my thoughts on what may happen in the final season.
I do not intend to throw spoilers at you. Don’t read if you don’t have the gut for it.
1. Child of Ice and Fire
Jon and Dany will have a child.
While Dany thinks she cannot become pregnant, I am pretty sure she’s going to have Jon’s baby, because maybe after Viserion died, her womb will allow her to have a child – the third dragon that will keep the Targaryen lineage going, and eventually, Dany will die cuz the mother of dragons will die birthing children according to the prophecy.
2. Cersei’s Death
What I truly hope and yearn to see in the final season – is for the Lannister twins to break up.
I know everyone just wants to see her die, but I want her to suffer more than that. Jamie is starting to turn into a good guy. See, he hasn’t pushed a child out of a window – six seasons straight. Give the man a medal already. I’m starting to root for him, and it stings me from within to see him fight on the wrong side, just because you know, the woman he loves is evil.
It’s about time Jamie dumped her. I want HIM to end it. I want her to get ditched by the one man she’s been manipulating and controlling ever since she was born.
Aaaand while we’re still on the subject, I will place my bet on the fact that Jamie will Kill Cersei.
Like Maggy the frog predicted, Cersei will be strangled by her younger brother.
Only, it won’t be Tyrion as she hoped, but Jamie with his golden hand.
Double catch- It will actually be Arya, wearing Jamie’s face, thus fulfilling her list of Names.
3. The Clash of Cleganes
The #CleganeBowl you guys. It’s happening. You know it. I know it. HE (GRRM) knows it. This is perhaps one of the most anticipated and long-awaited fight that the entire fandom has been waiting for.
The hound will take on The Mountain, but who will win?
4. Infant On The Iron Throne
If you thought Harry Potter had a cursed child, wait till you meet the child of fire and ice. First of all, this child was borne out of several broken oaths. Dany was told she couldn’t have kids, and Jon SWORE A SOLEMN OATH that he wouldn’t take a wife or father children. This makes the baby very vulnerable to bitter emotions from the realm.
However, there is one thing we cannot overlook. This baby is born out of the bloodline of the two most dominant houses in all of Westeros, and a strong, irrefutable claim to the iron throne.
The next king of the seven kingdoms and true heir of the Iron Throne would be the offspring of Jon and Dany.
Let’s look a little deeper into that.
Jon and Dany’s baby could be what the Night King really wants. I mean, have you ever wondered why he is obsessed with coming over to Westeros anyway? All of a sudden? At this particular time, in a thousand years? Why did wait for so long?
He wants to take the heir of the Iron Throne. This particular heir. The peculiar child of Ice and Fire. This baby could be his ultimate destiny.
It could be the destiny of Jon and Dany (one of whom are probably the Azor Ahai) as well. The Azor Ahai is prophecized to make a huge sacrifice to save the realm from the long night – well, this could be it.
Brandon Stark will warg into a Dragon.
It’s actually pretty frustrating for the book readers that the show has cut down sooooo much on the warging!
With warging being such an important element in both the books and the shows, I think it’s safe to predict that it will be a key plot point in the series endgame.
6. Sansa’s Marital Status
This season, we will be getting a final and clear solution to Sansa’s marital status. Surely, there has been no annulment in the marriage she had with Tyrion. It can only be annulled by a High Septon or a monarch. One could say, Jon will issue the annulment, given he is King in the north, but he bent the knee to Dany.
Being married to Sansa gives Tyrion a lot of political advantage – but would the mother of dragons be willing for her Hand have that much power? I highly doubt it.
Also, with Rickon dead, and Bron becoming the three-eyed raven, Sansa’s marriage is of even more significant importance as it will be the offsprings of that marriage who will carry on the Stark name. (When all male heirs of a house die, the daughter will be keeping the house name, and carrying it forward, irrespective of her marital status).
Sansa’s marriage will be a very important plot point, as it holds a lot of intricate political weight.
Jon’s destiny is revealed even before we knew who he was, in the very first season, when he pesters his uncle that he wants to take the black, and he replies with ‘you wouldn’t if you knew what that meant.’ Maybe he was talking about love, family, and fatherhood, but there’s a thick chance that he was hinting that he knew about his patronage and that he was destined to sit on the Iron Throne.
Dany will discover that she is pregnant. She will probably die during childbirth or shortly after, fighting the Dragon King. She may also lose another or all of her dragons in the battle against the Night king, but in the season finale, it may be revealed that the dragons had laid eggs.
While it’s been well established that my best bet is that Dany will die, I have a bad feeling that her end may be a little sadistic. The last Azor Ahai had to plunge a sword into the heart of his True Love, in order to save the realm and get the Light Bringer. So if Jon is the Azor Ahai, that would mean he’d have to kill her – thus fulfilling another prophecy – that Dany will face three betrayals in her life.
The child of Ice and Fire will be the bittersweet climax that GRRM has been hinting about.
The child will be born without a mother – or perhaps without a father and mother both.
Everyone else will mostly die, except Tyrion, Missandei, Samwell Tarly, Bronn all of whom will sneak out to the south, saving the baby of Jon and Dany from the Night King, making him sit on the Iron Throne, with Samwell Tarly finally narrating “A song of Ice and Fire” to the infant monarch.
Maybe even twin monarchs.
XOXO,
Bala.
